Why are we here?
To those who already know me you are aware that in my professional life I have been a patient focused Occupational Therapist for decades, working as a Certified Hand Therapist and also helping people become as independent and safe as possible in the Home Health setting. If you know me well, you also know that I have had a travel addiction for my entire adult life. In my personal life I have been consumed with experiencing as many destinations and cultures as possible. I feel that travel can be life changing and truly soul enriching.
My career has focused on identifying the strengths and weakness of individuals and then developing strategies of modification or adaptation to allow meaningful participation in the activities that the individual finds important. I believe these same principles can be applied when developing travel itineraries and tours in order make travel experiences enjoyable even to those that have found themselves a bit intimidated by seeing the world.
When I turned 50, I decided it was time to stop dreaming about my plans to someday combine the professional and personal areas of my life, and it was past time to take some serious action. I developed my action plan. I completed coursework to become a Travel Advisor and then officially formed my new business. My vision for providing customized escorted travel options for small groups was born with the establishment of Custom Micro Tours, LLC.
After a “soft launch” in December of 2024 with a small guided trip to Hawai'i, I focused my attention on planning a few more adventures for 2025. I am now excited to announce that there is an Ireland Tour available for booking.
Custom Micro Tours will be escorting up to 10 people on a fully guided exploration around Ireland September 9th -20th, 2025. I will be providing more details in future updates. Check out the highlights of this tour under "Itineraries" to see where you could visit and imagine what it would be like to jump into all these activities that have been planned for you without any of the work of planning it yourself. What makes my company unique?
I want to create unique and comfortable experiences for our groups, in part by keeping the group size to usually under 10 travelers. Most of our trips are designed around the needs and wants of the participants. With two of us acting as tour directors we can sometimes split the group and partake in a few different activities at a time.
